Iguana Control Methods: Tips To Get Rid Of Iguana From Your Yard

Whip Up a DIY Repellent

You don’t necessarily need to break out dangerous pesticides to keep iguanas at bay. A potent mixture of herbs and produce that can be found at any grocery store will generally scare away all but the most determined iguanas. Blending garlic powder, citric acid and jalapeno extract into a gallon of water will produce an iguana removal spray that can be applied to your yard.

Deploy a Few Cage Traps

Like most lizards, iguanas are tenacious characters that are tough to capture with your bare hands. Old-fashioned cage traps will help any homeowner to take charge of their iguana control in Miami and beyond. A decent steel cage trap that’s perfect for capturing iguanas can be had for less than $50-90 Bucks. If you’re squeamish about confronting iguanas face to face, this might be the best option for you.

Use Plants to Deter Them

The iguanas that plague the vast majority of southern Florida hate certain plants and trees with a vengeance. For instance, iguanas don’t particularly care for oleander, milkweed and Mexican petunia. Iguanas also don’t care for lemon, lime and orange trees no matter how hungry they might be. Mango, fig, banana and hibiscus trees should be protected with wire netting to prevent damage from foraging iguanas.

Scare Them Off With Light

Believe it or not, highly reflective surfaces are one of the most effective forms of iguana control in South Florida. Many homeowners hang old CDs from fishing line around their lawns and gardens to ward off iguanas. If you’d like to opt for a classier look that won’t peeve the neighbors, an ornamental stainless steel windmill or a few wind chimes will do the trick.

Fill in Their Burrows

Iguanas tunnel into soft earth to create burrows where they can lay their eggs. Consequently, destroying their burrows is one of the easiest ways to prevent iguanas from proliferating across your property. When you find a hole in your lawn, fill it with rocks and top off the entrance with soil. A mulch pile can be used as bait to lure iguanas away from foundations.

The Ultimate Solution to Your Iguana Woes

When simple DIY methods of iguana control fail to work for you, hiring a professional iguana removal specialist is a must.

They’re tiny and so annoying and seem to show up when the weather gets warm. If you’re experiencing an ant invasion in your kitchen or other areas inside your Miami home, you are not alone. These uninvited guests are called sugar ants or odorous house ants, and they’re on a mission to score some food. From dining on cookie crumbs to cooking grease, they’re not fussy.

Here at V Pest Control, we’re experts who have served more than one million properties throughout South Florida. We get it, folks; no more ants!

If you want to tackle the problem alone, we have some excellent tips to try, but if your tiny pest-thugs don’t disappear in a week, then reach out to us. We have the proper tools and background to quickly and effectively zap the colonies and eliminate the problem.

When ants are on the move, they seem to emerge from the woodwork, so to speak. They work long hours daily and are very strong. For example, ants have the ability to carry between 10 and 50 times their own bodyweight!

  • Insect Spray/Bait

First, try spraying the exterior area of your home where it meets the pavement or ground. Inside, set up ant bait, or spray in the locations where you find them lurking about. Spray around baseboards, for instance.

  • Bathroom Takeover

If ants are sharing your bathroom, spray around the base of your toilet. You could also clean the bathroom with ammonia.

  • Natural Methods

Some people don’t like using harsh chemicals inside their living quarters. You can mix a Windex, vinegar and water cocktail, and spray that to destroy the pheromone trail they form for fellow ants to follow. Also, you can spread powdered diatomaceous earth on invaded carpeted areas to get rid of ants. They’ll eat the powder and die.

Your mission is to destroy the ant colony or nest, but sometimes, that’s not simple to do. The queen ant lays her eggs there, and sugar ants can have multiple queens.
